Why should you give up wheat?

The Detox Maintenance programme recommends completely eliminating wheat from your diet, for at least 30 days.  But, you may say, "bread is the staff of life" etc.
Unfortunately, the wheat we eat today is not the same as the wheat our grandparents ate.  Through genetic manipulation, modern wheat is more difficult for us to digest.  Most of the protein has been eliminated, and we are left with an addictive food that causes "hunger attacks", is full of empty calories, has little nutritious value, and contains the dreaded gluten.
Many people are sensitive to gluten, and their health improves immediately when they eliminate gluten.  And it is addictive, just like sugar.  Wherever wheat and sugar go, diseases follow. 
Gluten causes inflammation of the gut in at least 80% of the population.  It's inflammatory effect causes a leaky gut, which means that food is not digested properly and nutrients are not fully absorbed, leading to nutrient deficiencies.
Dramatic results can come from eliminating wheat from your diet.  Diabetics no longer have diabetes, relief from arthritis, swelling of the legs, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, depression.......  One in three people are sensitive to gluten, even if they show no symptoms.  In people with digestive disorders like heart burn, diarrhoea, constipation, etc. 50% were found to be gluten sensitive. 
In our society wheat is present in practically everything we eat - bread, pasta, cake, biscuits, and is used in millions of prepared food products.  Most people can indulge occasionally without adverse consequences, but for the majority of the time, we should avoid wheat whenever possible.  Some health conditions might not exist if we did not consume so much wheat - diabetes, heart disease, obesity being the first three that immediately come to mind.  Anyone with any kind of digestive disorder should completely avoid wheat. 
Give it up for 30 days, while you follow the Detox Maintenance Programme, and you will be amazed at how wonderful you feel.
