Chilled Hibiscus Flower Tea

I recently learned that hibiscus flowers have even more antioxidants than green tea!  Here in Mexico, you can buy dried hibiscus flowers in every market and supermarket.  However, if you can't find them locally, you can use herbal tea bags with hibiscus as their first ingredient.
In Mérida,Yucatán, for some reason, the hibiscus flower drink is called jamaica, and is very popular, unfortunately heavily laced with sugar (or maybe something worse!). So it is much better to make your own.

Prepare your hibiscus flower tea by adding either a handful of dried flowers, or 4 teabags that contain hibiscus to a large jug of water, add a sliced lemon, and leave overnight in the refrigerator.  It is as simple as that.

To make it even more powerful, you could add a green tea bag to the overnight ingredients.

The next day, just keep drinking it to provide a boost of antioxidants throughout the day.

If you need, you could add a little honey to sweeten it up, but I prefer to take it just as it comes.

When following a detox maintenance lifestyle, it is very important to drink a lot of liquid, to help flush out the toxins from your body, and these subtly flavourful drinks make it easy to drink your recommended amount of at least 1.5 litres per day.
